| Miki Birjandi Liszt tackles the labyrinth complexities of the Chador (Islamic veil) in this Iranian-born choreographer’s unique evening length contemporary dance set to classical and modern Persian music and poetry. The piece is drawn from experiences in Iranian, American and other cultures where veiling raises questions about options for women. With the veil always a presence, movements abut physical limitations for the cast of 6 women. Slides of the body revealed despite the veil tempt us to discover hidden power and potential liberation in this mysterious symbol. | |||
